The fourth generation grate cooler can be roughly divided into two types: rod type and step type.
The earliest appearance was the bar type grate cooler produced by Smith Company, which had a tilted grate bed arranged and fixed, and materials were transported by push rods on the grate bed. The fan provides cooling air, while the crusher crushes the clinker. Its advantages are good sealing effect for material leakage, but its disadvantages are that the pushing rod wears out quickly, and the inclined arrangement is used to solve the transportation problem, resulting in higher construction costs.
Stepped grate cooler is the fourth generation model that emerged later. Its grate bed adopts a column wise stepping motion, that is, each column advances together, and then each column returns in batches. The material is conveyed under inertia and subsequent material compression. The fan provides cooling air, while the crusher crushes the clinker. Its advantages are that the grate plate is not easily worn, the conveying efficiency is high, and the grate bed is horizontally arranged. The disadvantage is that the longitudinal seal will wear out, and the longitudinal sealing technology is difficult.

1. The grate bed has a travel distance of up to 400 millimeters. In this way, while meeting the conveying capacity, the grate speed is very low, and the working conditions of all the worn parts of the grate cooler are significantly improved
2. Adopting small closed-loop control and displacement sensors. The position of the grate bed is accurate and the hydraulic operation is stable; Moreover, the travel of each column is very easy to adjust, effectively avoiding the Red River phenomenon on both sides
3. The supporting device has minimal wear and tear. The supporting device adopts classic supporting and guiding wheels, with a simple and reliable structure. The contact area has been specially increased, and the surface has been treated with efficient wear resistance. In addition, the working conditions have been improved by no leakage, resulting in excellent wear resistance. After 5 years of actual operation, no obvious wear or settling of the grate bed has been found.
4. The longitudinal matrix is made of large H-shaped steel. The width reaches about 600 millimeters, with strong rigidity, effectively enhancing the stability of operation.
5. The activity grate plate is welded together with the longitudinal beam. The 100mm cold clinker accumulated on the air duct moves synchronously with the grate bed and protects the movable grate plate, so that the movable grate plate is no longer a wear part but a structural part, with a working life of more than 5 years.
6. The longitudinal sealing strip is sturdy and wear-resistant. High and thick cross-section, strong resistance to various unfavorable factors; The sealed air duct is long and not prone to material leakage; The standard section of the sealing strip is about 1 meter long, achieving staggered arrangement, and the seams will never collide; The sealing strip is arranged in the groove between the columns, using reliable anti loosening gaskets and easy to replace and adjust. The expected lifespan is over 3 years.
7. The air chamber under the grate bed has good sealing performance. Double layered doors, fixed observation windows, and docking lubricating oil pipes are installed on the side wall panels of the wind chamber, completely avoiding the situation of air leakage from the third generation unit; The internal partition wall is sealed with a sealing material up to 30mm thick, greatly improving the airflow in the air chamber
8. The working oil pressure of the hydraulic system is low. The working conditions of hydraulic components have been improved, and the hydraulic system is less prone to oil leakage.
